TIME...
Time. What a strange and sacred thing.
Right now, I’m in the middle of a 13-hour round-trip drive to pick up Landon’s things from his dorm because it won’t all fit in his car on the way home. His first year of college is already wrapping up. And I’ll be honest… I’m feeling it.
We are so proud of him. He’s grown so much. Handled things that most adults struggle with. He’s chasing after what matters, and we’re incredibly thankful to God for the young man he’s becoming.
But man… it went fast.
Wasn’t it just yesterday we were packing his lunch for elementary school? Just yesterday we were at soccer games, youth group, and summer trips? Now I’m watching the road go by, remembering all those moments and realizing how fast time actually moves.
And it’s got me thinking.
Time is a gift we’re always spending, but not always wisely. We scroll for hours, we chase noise, we fill our lives with the distractions of a world that’s always screaming for more of us… and we miss the sacred right in front of us. We waste what we’ll one day wish we could get back.
Meanwhile, time keeps ticking.
It doesn’t wait for us to get our priorities straight. It doesn’t pause while we figure out what really matters. It just keeps moving, quietly, steadily, while we decide whether or not to be present for it.
But here’s the thing: we still have time.
Time to be intentional.
Time to say what needs to be said.
Time to press pause on the chaos and lean into purpose.
Time to really love the people God’s placed in our lives.
And time to thank Him, for every minute we still get.
So here’s the challenge:
Don’t miss the miracle of the moment you’re in. Don’t let your life be defined by distractions. Be present. Be grateful. Be intentional. The days are short, but they are full of meaning—if we’re willing to see it.
“So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.” Psalm 90:12
